Ground Level Ozone - Advanced Air Quality

July 25-27, 2010 at Brevard College

Air quality is an environmental factor that affects all of us. What is air quality, what is ground level ozone, how does air quality affect our lives? These are some of the questions that will be addressed during this workshop. PFI has partnered with the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to present this workshop. We will be spending a full day in the park at the Appalachian Highlands Learning Center at Purchase Knob, located at 5,000 feet. Bring your camera for this one! Participants in this workshop will be introduced to the regional effects of air pollution, and we will focus on specific biological indicators of air quality and learn how biomonitoring can be done with students. This workshop is designed for K-12 educators.

Measuring Air Quality participants are eligible to receive up to 1.5 Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credits based on 15 contact hours, as well as Criteria II credit in the North Carolina Environmental Education Certification Program – through the N.C. Office of Environmental Education.
